It’s been a year since the last time I bought a wooden puzzle at Etnacomics, and six months since the last time I assembled one that was gifted to me. So at this year’s Etnacomics, on 03/06/2023, I decided to buy another one. This time my attention was caught by a wooden model, which was being sold at a slightly discounted price of €41.20.
This is how it is presented on their site:
Building process
It is definitely the most complex model I have ever assembled, and also the largest. The process was quite long: it took me an afternoon and a morning.
The train uses a metal spring to move, connected to wooden gears. It was one of the first components to be assembled.
There are 5 pairs of wheels, mounted on iron pins. Only one pair, however, receives the driving force of the spring.
The front of the train is really nice and well decorated, complete with bumper and chimney.
As soon as the main body is assembled, the train is already working. Only a few decorations are missing.
Most of the steps were quite clear and the assembly was natural, but there were several times when I felt I had to force it a bit to get the expected result. The final decoration, the one on the back of the locomotive, continues to leave me a bit confused.
Conclusion
My collection is enriched with a new piece. I hope to continue to expand it, but maybe with something simpler and above all smaller.
